My identity was forged between the heroic, structured myths of early Zionism and the silent, haunting shadows of post-war European memory. Today, as these foundational stabilities seem to fracture, my work seeks to locate itself within that tension.
My practice is an ontological and archaeological inquiry into the primal riddles of existence: the intertwining of memory and oblivion, and the delicate tension between presence and absence. I often think of myself as a photojournalist arriving at an event decades or centuries too late, documenting something that is no longer there—yet somehow still present, etched in the landscape through the persistent layers of culture and history.
I work exclusively in large-format (4x5) analog photography, embracing a rigorous, slow discipline. The heavy camera demands a state of presence that has largely vanished in the digital age, creating a vital temporal gap between the act of exposure and the emergence of the image. This process, influenced by the meditative stillness of the Tao and Martin Buber’s "I-Thou" relationship, views the physical print not just as an image, but as an object that carries the weight of its own making—a meditation on holding onto the fleeting light before it disappears into the darkness of forgetting.
